Dr. Amarjot Singh's journey, deeply rooted in his upbringing in a military family in India, began with a focus on engineering and collaborations with defense organizations like DRDO. His pursuit of AI for torpedo technology led him to the National University of Singapore and subsequently to the University of Cambridge for his Ph.D., where he specialized in brain-inspired AI. Singh's application of AI in drone security earned him international recognition. Committed to social impact, he used AI to rescue trafficked children in India, a project that earned him a spot in the MIT 35 under 35 and garnered attention from media outlets like BBC. This experience, along with his work on crowd monitoring solutions, steered him towards exploring Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) at Stanford University, under DARPA's program. This path culminated in the founding of Skylark Labs, where Singh and his team are dedicated to developing advanced AI systems for security applications, driven by a mission to make the world a safer place through innovative AI solutions.
Singh focused on creating AI capable of operating on edge devices like drones and cameras. To achieve this, he studied brain mechanisms at Harvard, MIT, and Brown University, leading to the development of a data and computationally efficient AI, ScatterNet Hybrid Deep Networks. This AI was applied to drones and cameras, tackling safety and security challenges like violence detection in crowded places and Disguised Face Recognition. His work garnered international recognition, including features in media outlets like BBC and on the cover of The Economist.
