Prof. Kris Kitani is an Associate Research Professor in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, where he leads research at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and robotics. His lab focuses on first-person (egocentric) perception, human activity understanding, and learning-based methods that allow humanoid and assistive robots to adapt to people and unstructured environments.
Prof. Kitani has held research leadership positions at Meta AI, where his work contributed to advances in human pose estimation, motion modeling, and humanoid platforms. He has co-organized leading workshops on egocentric perception and human-aware robotics at venues including CVPR, ECCV, and ICCV.
He received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo and his research has been recognized with best paper awards and nominations at top computer vision and robotics conferences. He has published more than a hundred peer-reviewed papers and frequently serves as area chair, senior reviewer, or program committee member for the field's flagship venues.
